Pulley tensioner problems

Hi All,

The fiancee's Alternator died in her A32 Maxima and i've had no problems thus far until it came to reassembling the pulley tensioner.

I left the pulley nut on the pulley tensioner pretty much well intact and only loosened it before removing the belt. Since trying to put it back together it doesnt seem to turn freely. I thought this may have just been normal, but now when the engine starts it shrieks loudly.

First of all the belt was just slipping around the pulley and the pulley wasnt turning so I thought the tensioner wasnt set tight enough.

I tightened it up pretty much as far as it goes and this time it turns the wheel but the wheel shrieks. It sounds like the little bearing is not working properly on the inside of the pulley. Have I reassembled the pulley tensioner incorrectly? Can someone help?

Cheers all

turns out it was the cup piece of the end of the pulley assembly.

Needs to face outwards, not inwards... odd but works good now :P
