Idling Problem and another question?

OK, before anyone blasts me I have already read some of the previous posts regarding engine idling problems. When other people are saying that their RPM's are running low, I'm assuming they are talking about when their car is in park or neutral. My car idles about ~650 in park and in neutral. However when I' drving and come to a stop it drops to ~500 and I got a little "shakin' goin' on." If I put it back into neutral or park it jumps back up to ~650. Anyone else experiencing this or know what could be the problem? Also, the other day I got under my car to see about changing the oil and I noticed that there was a plastic sheeth around a couple of wires around the drain pan. Part of the plastic sheet was torn and I could see the wires inside. Is this OK like this?

Thanks for the help!

I too experience the same symptoms. When the vehicle is in park, it idles around 800-850. When I have my foot on the brake at a light, its at 500-550. I also have browsed with intent to find different solutions. I thought about cleaning the throttle body. Unfortunately, it is quite difficult find the correct throttle body cleaner in Germany. Mail moves significantly slower nowadays. I checked the auto-trans fluid and seems fine. I change oil on the regular. Any ideas?

Well, after I posted the question I realized that it's about time for my 60K service. I'm thinking my problem may be my spark plugs. If not I'm not sure what it could be. Yesterday as I was slowing down I think I dipped to around 450 until I came to a completely stop and it leveled out at 500. I think you're idling speed of 850 may be a little high too. I think average is 650-700. By the way FYI, www.nissan-accessories.com has a tune up kit for ~$70. if you need it. Comes with 6 Platinum spark plugs and Oil, Fuel, and Air filters.

the problem could be related to your IACV. some have reported that after removing this and cleaning it out with TB cleaner, their car idled smoother. cleaning your TB could also help, as gunk in there could be restricting the idle speed. best thing to do is open things up and inspect/clean.
