Nothing but maintenance stuff, at first (tires oil n filter, air filter). Then a couple months later the big money problems arose.

I got both my babies on craigslist. The 95 for 1300 and the 97 for 1100.

 

Just got mine on Tuesday:

1) 1996 SE 5 speed, Deep Evergreen w/ tan leather, 254,111 miles.
2) Walk-by (was at an intown festival, saw for sale sign in window)
3) $1,500 (talked him down form $1,750)
4) so far, oil change, wipers, knock & vehicle speed sensors next & egr tube cleaning

1: 96 Pearl white SE 5spd. LSD.

2: A good friend of mine. he bought a 95 and couldnt figure out how to fix the one i currently have.

4: I need the front timing over resealed (leaking pretty good). Need pass axle. Needs flywheel or starter (dead spot somewhere). Motor mounts(badly). Body work!

With all those things I need done.. The car is still awesome.

4) Over 9 months: New CV boots/shafts, new front brake pads/rotors, new tires (BS Truniza Serenity), normal maintenance items (fluids/filters). New KS, new VC gaskets (leaking), cleaned up almost clogged EGR ports, TBD.

Great Car! I get ~420 miles per tank of 93 octane gas.

 

95, White with tan leather. Auto tranny. GLE with Bose system. Right about 160k on the clock.

Found it at a local dealer after our car was totaled.

Just under $5k after taxes.

Car was in good shape for it's age/mileage. Had not been abused. Had to do hood struts and replace warped rear rotors. Otherwise it's been a champ. Cold weather in town mileage sucks but on the highway it's in the high 20s per gallon.

I just got this baby off craigslist in earlier this month 1999 GLE Sterling Mist w/Black Leather Near Mint condition w/ 85,500 miles. Total = 5500

Minor nicks and scratches almost want to take it to a body shop just so it looks new again, leather is pristine except a rip on the rear pass door.

2nd day driving i was trying to impress my Dad with the cleanliness of the engine and there was radiator fluid sputtering out near the cap.

Replaced the Radiator and from the conversations i had with the owner who babied the car. Everything is bone stock nothing has been changed except routine oil changes.

First thing i did was tinted the car the same week with legal TX 32% in the front and Limo 6% in the back.

4. front left turn signal needs replacing (wire broken), front rotor needs turning or replacing, cd stuck in cd player & not recognizing cd changer.

How can I tell what version I have (GXE/SE/GLE)? The car was listed simply as a Maxima. Also, from the VIN and the engine id number, is there a way to tell if the engine in the car is the same one that rolled out of the factory? My neighbor says it looks like the engine is newer (new struts, radiator, fuse boxes, engine mounts), so I'm curious to know if I got a great deal instead of a good deal on the purchase.

 

DAMN!

 

1) 1996 SE 5-spd, 138k on a 97 engine. new clutch (short throw shifter). A very powerful car.

2) Bought it in Boston from a friend, drove it back to Madison, WI

4) Interior rust from a leak in the rear passenger floorboard that ruined carpet. Resurfaced and removed rust, and then installed new carpeting. Alloys needed a lot of tlc and new tires. Still need to replace antenna. Black trim had fake wood glue-on pieces that I took off. Bose system still needs to be adapted to aftermarket stereo. Right front bumper is dented. Trunk needed work.

 

1) 97 GXE, Auto, bone stock except for fugly SS wheel arch trim (removed immediately), 54,000 (back in '03). Very clean & straight.

2) someone else's trade-in, got call from dealer acquaintence when it arrived at shop.

4) Brakes (dealer fixed as part of sale). Just put on new fr. fenders because wheel arches rusted at screw holes from the wheel arch trim, rear wheel arches OK (see #1).
