sirius install
Sorry if this is in the wrong section but i wanted it based on the 4th gen maxima.
Looking to install my sportster4 into the wifey's 98 max. Just dont see anywhere to mount it. I DO NOT want it on the left dash, hanging off the windsheild. Would like it solid mounted to something and be within hands reach....
Lets see your mounts...

what I did was I put it on that slightly slanted piece of black trim that's located in front of the clock and right above the flashers and rear defrost. I just put it over the flasher button and it seems to stay, and I was using a small suction cup with a rather large radio compared to your sportster...

I put my Stilettos (first the S50, then the SL100, and more recently the SL2) on the stick-on vehicle mount - with the long stalk from my first S50 - attached to the passenger side of the center console of my SE Max. It's close to the gear shift so passenger's legs and the glove door both clear it.
I like the Sirius receiver and mount down low so as to not attract the attention of thieves (though the Sirius antenna IS a clue that a sat radio is in the car). Still, with the plug and plays you can pop the receiver out when you stop the car and stow it away or take it with you.
My daughter likes her SL10 in her line of sight, so I mounted that up high on the dash (again, using the stick on mount) in her 2007 Quest.

I ended up mounting my sportster 4 in place of my ash tray. I removed the ash tray and placed velcro around the opening and on the back of the sportsters base. Antenna wire is ran under the center console and eventually i'll hardwire the power source. Its far from theft proof but i'd imagine theres some way of doing so if that's important to you. Screen is hard to see when in park but when driving the display is great, also within hands reach.

I have my antenna mounted on the middle of the roof a few inches above the rear windshield and just ran the wire under the window seal and thru the trunk. I had the reciever mounted on the pass side of the windshield (so it was behind the inspection sticker) and i just used the remote to change channels, but that got stollen last friday, so don't do that. I'm getting a new one next week and I am mounting it in the center console area, somewhere within reach so I can take it out and lock it in the glove compartment when I'm not in the car. Out of sight, out of mind.
