Temp. gauge in the winter ??
It just started getting cold in my area and on my way back to school I noticed over the long trip that the temp. guage didnt go all the way were it has been at during the spring and summer (since I havent had the car for the cold weather yet) normaly it sits right in the middle maybe a alittle higher...but now since it got cold its a little bit lower...its probably normal, what ya think???

Keeping in mind that I am no auto mechanic...
I would say this is normal. It should eventually hit the same mark it normally does, but I'm sure with the colder weather it will take it longer. I seem to remember (pushing it here) that I could get to work(~16 mi.) during the winter without it hitting the normal spot.
So...I would say this about the temp: If the heater works, and the car isn't overheating, but it's heating to somewhat normal temps, then it's okay.
Anyone care to disagree?

It sound normal to me, but keep in mind that most factory thermostats are now fail-open. If the engine (and heater) never warm up, you chould have a bad thermostat. Other sympoms would include an extremely rich mixture and lousy gas mileage.
