just got the evo II installed but....

its not loud enough for my tastes....it sounds wonderful but it could be better. unfortunatly i have the same B pipe but i did manage to get rid of that stupid factory krimp right behind the resonator! hahah i beat nissan once again! back to subject. the muffler guy and i were thinking about replacing the cat with a resonator to get a louder tone.....but taking out the catalytic for sound quality?......hmmmm......risky....

opinions?

REVIEW:
with the resonator you cannot hear it at all.
cut out the res and welded straight pipe to cat while ridding myself of the stupid infamous exhaust krimp

SOUND is decent i can live with it and you an still tell from another cars point that its somewhere NEXT to them....not 3 cars away at a stoplight.

PERFORMANCE
its a very slightly boost and it is mostly in the highs. slight torque gain. slight hp gain.
noticable mostly due to krimp cut but noticable nonetheless

LOOK is absolutely perfect for the max. no downside here

I CAN FIT MY FIST IN THAT THING!!

o and its conveniently a gold tip

taking the cat off for a louder tone is stupid. do you have smog checks there? even if you dont its not a good idea.

try getting a nice b-pipe first.

thats my .02

If you do take the cat off, ill buy it off of you tho.

You want loud? Just get some good headers/y-pipe like Cattman or Hotshot (if you can find a set) and maybe a custom b-pipe with no resonator. Trust me, you can keep the stock cat and it'll still be loud. You'll get some nice gains to boot.

i have the greddy too, it will sound good the way you have it, maybe bolt a test pipe up if you want it to be louder. make your piping bigger/no resonator, but keep in mind if you plan on doing a y pipe, itll kill the whole sound of the exhuast. itll make it zingy and raspy......and u will probably want to make it quieter after a while. all in your hands !

i have a video of me at the track, im not saying it wont give you power, its the best bang for buck mod, but itll screw the sound up 100%.......i dont have many vids or pics, i have one of me at the track, but its hard to get a good listen to what it sounds like....

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=557422 look on those vids, i was willing to sacrifice most of the sound for power, but it doesnt sound 2 horrrible, im just saying if you want GOOOD sound, dont get a ypipe, if you want more power, then the y pipe is the choice for u...check it. and u can see some of the other vids from that link, jus make sure its the maxima not altima vids.

People want louder? Man, I want my car quiet...but the ponies need the 3" exhaust.

This is back when it had a magnaflow muffler...it's a little better now with the dynomax muffler...but the drone is still ridiculous.

Just loosen some of your y-pipe bolts to give it a gnarly growl.

or get an electric cutout welded on after ur cat.......or i was thinking, if your car is a 97to 99, weld the cutout into a straight pipe, and make it bolt up instead of your cat........and then u can just unbolt it when smog time is, and it isnt welded into your piping.....easier......

There's no muffler, so the exhaust is not muffled aka LOUD.

I also just purchased the EvoII for my Maxima. Hoping to install it sometime soon with my MEVI and 3000k fog HIDs. But this stupid Ohio weather just can't decide what it wants to do. I may end up just waiting until this semester's over....

Either way, I'll post pics and a vid when I do if no one else has.
