finally got max to start

My 1997 maxima has had a hard start (sometimes no start) for well over a year. I have read numerous threads on here and have posted many questions about it. Well my maxima hasn't started in about 6 months and I just can't figure it out. I gave in and took it to a local shop. After 7 days and over $900 they determined my timing was slightly off and ignition coil on cylinder one was bad. They adjusted it and put everything back together. Now car starts right up everytime. I am so happy...broke..but happy.

There is no adjustment for ignition timing on our cars.
and ignition coil on cylinder one was bad.
A $65 dollar part.

I think you got had big time to the tune of $900 bucks.

well basically the cost began at abt $370 for starter and install of it. I must have fried it trying to constantly start car. I even mentioned cost to shop because I have replaced it twice and part is about $160 and it only takes 15 minutes since i have an intake. then some diagnostics cost a little over $200 which entailed checking a bunch of things (fuel pressure, crank and cam sensors, replace battery cable, etc) mostly I had already done but figured they got to check again to know for sure. Actually cost could have been a lot more because I was misquoted. When mechanic called me he said it may be timing chain and it was i think a 12hr job and had to drop engine but said he could try to check ?timing? without doing that which is only 1 hr labor. He called me back the next day and said he looked at wrong thing on computer and it was supposed to be a 9hr job but he could only charge me for 1hr. After whatever he did-which involved dropping oil pan and apparently taking a bunch of stuff apart on timing cover-car started but misfired. Coil on cylinder one was misfiring so that was another $180 for part and labor. While I know at least 80% of this stuff could have been done by me, after many months of messing with it, it was almost worth what I had to pay.
