300Z Trubo on 98 Max...

Forum,
Is it possible to take a (or both) turbo charger(s) off the 300Z and use it with the 98 Maxima engine? If so, what types of mods need to be made? ...anyone done this before? Let me know!

Get ready to be force-fed your own liver.

To answer your question: in a word, no. In two words absolutely not. The maxima and 300zx are different engines and have very few, if any, interchangeable parts. And, no, a 300ZX block will NOT fit in a maxima (maybe in the back seat ).

Oh... and I almost forgot

SEARCH!!!

And just so you don't think we're rude, especially me (cause all moderators are rude ), the answer is: No.

Check the links in the 4th gen FAQs above.

Alright, alright already, I guess one stupid question deserves forty stupid answers. Thanx for the tips. Some of us would like to learn about our cars from respectable people who 1) know their stuff and 2) are willing to help us out tactfully. On the flip side, I appreciate the forum pointing me in the right direction.

what? of course its possible. it juss depends how much money you want to spend and invest in it. You can use a turbo off a boat, off a SAAB or off whatever you feel like.

It won't fit in a 4th gen. Yes, it's possible for a 3rd gen (http://z31.com/newengine.shtml), but not for yours.

And the turbo will be a completely custom job so why not use a Porsche 911 twin-turbo assembly?

this is one huge reason why i stopped coming to the org alot. all the new guys get bashed, to be honest anything is possible , i blew my tranny and people told me i was going to spend multiple thousands replacing it. but through the help of some friends i was able to locate a tranny for 400 (thanks screaminfast) and i bought air tools for 600 and i put it in myself , besides helping do a brake job once and putting in stereo equipment, it was my first experience working on a car. The bottom line is, you can do anything you want , dont let these guys discourage you. do the research yourself and learn things first hand and by hand and you will learn to love cars even more then ever. now who wants to help me figure out why my front right wheel vibrates

I didn't bash him! I just told him to use a different turbo - and your jobs aren't really this extravagent or this custom. But I'll DEFINITELY give you credit on the tranny... Anyways...are all of your lugs tight? And your rotors are on correctly? Have you curbed the wheel at all? Is it at the right pressure? Do you have aftermarket wheels? Have you had an alignment recently? All of the answers to these questions can yeild in possible problems. Check them out and see for yourself, then post us your answers .

assembled and dissasembled entire front right suspension assembly twice. had tire balanced , brake rotor is true. its not just a vibration feels like the wheel is going to fall off. might be the CV joint or the radials in the tire. no aftermarket wheels. when driven in a straight line there is vibration that increases with speed, but is not related to rpms. when there is weight applied to the front right wheel, ie: a left hand corner the vibration lessens almost to nothing but if the corner is cut hard the vibration lessens then returns immediatly and very severly

I know this sounds stupid, but are your struts tightly bolted? Some people don't tighten them enough after FSTB installation etc... Maybe its just an unfixable problem. Buy an FSTB and see if it helps (buy a cheap $50 one or borrow one if you can). Maybe if you have the time you yourself can personally take everything off (incl. strut assembly) and clean, lubricate and them reapply everything. Sometimes mechanics overlook the simplest problems.

This is a long shot, but this happend to my Pathfinder... It did something similar, and someone told me to go out and grab a hold of the tire and pull and push on it... if it wiggles, the bearing might be shot. When I did it, the whole tire&rim moved about an inchin & out from the wheel well. When I took the hub bearing out... there were frags of bearing all over. More recently my car was shimmy-ing(sp) and I thought oh hell here we go again, and I found out that I had a flat spot on my rim from a pot hole... so check out that rim and see if it's still round and get personal with your tire...
