Having trouble starting in my Max

Hi All,

Just recently, I am having trouble starting my Maxima up first thing in the morning. When I turn to the start position all the lights will light up fine but there is no click or cranking action at all. However, when I put the car's transmission into N (it's an Auto), the cars fires right up without any hesitation.

Any suggestions in troubleshooting this problem?

TIA

Trans ever been out? The shift cable may be out of adjustment.

Now is it just first thing in the morning, or does it occur on all starts?

i agree with pmohr, check the neutral positioning switch and see if needs adjustments. when the car dont want to start in P, push the shifter up and hold it and if its starts like that then its the neutral positioning switch.
