Well ... to start, rev to about 3,500k or so and then just let your foot fly off the clutch, hold on, give it gas and SMOKE em! lol

Really, I don't think you need to "break it in" at all. That'd be like breaking in a new light bulb.

I've heard you need to go easy on it and avoid going WOT for about 300 miles.

Easy street driving. Avoid freeways or extended runs at the same RPM, freeway milage does not count (unless it's stop and go). Avoid WOT runs, and take it easy for 500 miles. Then feel free to romp on it.

I thought you could do WOT run. You just need to baby the launches and no speed shifts.

Why avoid freeways? I really see no reason to do so, just makes the break in period last that much longer. Also, avoid cruising at a steady RPM? For breaking in a new engine, sure...a clutch?

That's how I've always heard it and done it.

If you were to get on the freeway and drive 500 miles straight (assuming you had the fuel to do so) you would not have broken in the clutch anymore than when you started. It's the shifting that breaks in the clutch, the engagement of the clutch disc to the pressure plate and flywheel.

I'd also consider WOT to be aggressive driving, and most clutch manufactures recommend light to moderate acceleration until the clutch is broken in.

Just my $.02

Ah, I see what you mean. I read it as specifically avoiding that sort of steady RPM cruising, as you would when breaking in a freshly rebuilt/built motor.

Just drive the car for a few hundred miles without any hard use of the clutch. It doesn't matter how hard you drive the car as long as you make clean shifts and don't launch it.
