you can use either one, the 125 amp one will supply up to 125 amp load.

Because the aftermarket parts interchange is so fawked up, they should just have the 110 and 125 amp ones listed for every year/model, what year/model/emmisions info did you give them to get the one where the 110 is more? Theres a certain one at least through autozone that comes up with a $125ish 110 amp and a $149 125 amp, than othertimes they give you $210 for the 110 and $170 for the 125. I always make them look up a million different year maxima/i30's until they get the cheaper 125amp one. There all from the same reman mexico company at that.

I mentioned the 110amp and 125amp options a few weeks ago to Dave B (the parts guy) when I bought an alternator and he said there isn't a 125amp option. He said the 4th gens had a 100amp originally and Nissan updated them with 110amp.

when i worked at pepboys you look up any maxima or i30 97-99 and it gives you 110 and 125 option. i put the 125 for more amp. only real difference is the internal regulator and stator are set to higher loads so more amps. you can even rebuild your stock one to push even higher amps if you want for high wattage amps for stereo but will risk overheating the alternator if you go to high. learned a little from working on limo. hahah. but just a thought.

Toyick, for what the 125 amp costs, its worth it. I put one in my 97 SE when the 110 died and immediately noticed a difference in the brightness of my dash and radio illumination.

Wasn't there also also a problem with what alternators you use? I've seen plenty of threads with people complaining about constantly having the change the alternators. Often the conclusion is you get what you paid for...so I'm confused with the advice given here. (Plus I need an alternator).

well i went ahead and put in the 125 amp for 143.00 i got it from kragen, which is the same as checkers i guess.
Its an autolight. came out of an orange box. Fixed my problem, there was a bad whining noise coming from the engine compartment...with a 5foot poll and a few mins i was able to diagnose the issue. fixed it. took about two hours. if i had to do it again, it would take half that. first time jobs are always longer.
