simple belt question......
allright, belts are done and have allready been adjusted once. after i start her in the morning, and she sits for 3 or 4 hours, i start her up again later in the day, and i get 1 quick squeal and thats it. what needs to be tightened again?? tensioner or idler pulley??? its driving me nuts, she runs fine so its not a major issue. thanks>>>>>

Had the same thing happen to me after I did my serp belt. Squeal only lasted like 1/4 of a second but still annoying. Tightened the tensioner a second time, it went away, and started doing it again a few weeks later. Tightened the tensioner AGAIN, also tightened the idler pulley a little more, so far so good.

Check belt tension by measuring deflection. Push down in the center of the belt (between 2 drive pullies). It should move about 1/8 - 1/4 inch.
Adjust to spec and be done with it.
If the belt is too tight you can damage the belt and bearings in the components it turns.
