changing wheel studs ?
changing wheel studs ?
last time car was in the shop they stripped the heck out of my stud (front wheel). darn thing snapped off when I tried to remove it.
How hard is it to change?
btw: how safe is it riding on only 4 studs?

Take off the wheel, then the caliper and bracket, then the rotor. Then just bang the old stud out with a hammer.
Put the new one in, bang it in as well as you can, then tighten a lugnut down on it without putting the wheel back on, this will get it all the way in. Then reassemble your brakes and you are all set.

Riding on 4 studs is fine...
until you get it fixed. Just don't race and rake bumps slowly is what my mechanic said when I broke one. Firestone replaced my stud for $40 including the stud and I didn't mind paying a little to get a warranty behind it. After all, they are the only things that keep your wheels on the road.
