Magnaflow Y-pipe/Cat Assembly

Magnaflow Y-pipe/Cat Assembly
I was searching around looking for a new exhaust for my 97 and came across this Magnaflow y-pipe
Anybody seen or heard anything about this set up:
http://www.hopupracing.com/mafrycacoasn.html
Seems a bit expensive, although everything on that site seems expensive, but from the looks of how it is made it seems like that would be an equal length y-pipe with the pre-cats. I didnt find any reviews or links to it here on the org, so I was wondering if anybody is running this setup or has heard anything about it.
Edit: Been looking around on other magnaflow sites and magnaflow.com and cant find this part anywhere else so Im not sure if it is an old part or what.

never seen this before.
uhh... wouldn't be too quick to jump the gun there buddy.
a mandrel bent stainless replacement could very well be "worth it". cut out the pre-cats and weld in pipe and you have an equal lenth y-pipe. next issue would be the collector but i'm not sure how important that is.

Not to mention if the emissions tests are particularly strict in your area, this way you could stay completely legal and probably still feel an improvement from the mandrel bent piping. Not sure if it'd be worth $500-800 to most people though.

Looks like a stock Y=pipe, if that's what you want they can be picked up for much
less.

Although there is no picture for the Walker part #50522 it's very similar to that Magna flow.

Is that even going to give close to the same gains as an aftermarket Y-pipe would? Looking at the pic it looks like the right bank comes in at a 90 degree angle which probably restricts the flow just like stock.
I've never heard of anyone not being able to meet emissions without the pre-cats. Just get a Warpspeed for $200

Forgot all about this thread...
I emailed Magnaflow a while back to get some info from them about the assembly it seems basically like a stock replacement, they claim that their cats flow 40% better than stock. No dyno numbers as they don't dyno their cats. I have no intention of buying this because it does seem way to expensive for what it is.
Here is another pic they sent me of the assembly, the right side bank does seem to attach at a 90 as well:

To be honest, I don't care or need the performance gains that occur at high RPMs with an aftermarket y-pipe that has no pre-cats, because I really only care about acceleration in the low RPM range, like getting onto the highway.
I had debated about getting a non street-legal y-pipe but with my maxima being a family car, it just doesn't make sense.

If you refer to a max as a family sedan that can never attain good performance then you dont know much about the VQ engine and have little imagination. The suspension will obviously never compete with independent rear suspension platforms but the solid beam has its advantages as well. Its far from a grocery getter with the right mind behind it

Also, compared to y-pipe performance gains from taking out the cats and having a smoother bend, my understanding is that the backpressure provided by the 90-degree bend helps with low-end torque, which to me is preferable to high-end torque, because I'm not racing around town in 1st or 2nd gear just to have an extra kick, and on the highway, if I'm pulling onto an onramp or just cruising, I want that extra torque at the low end to get me safely where I need to be.

In my case, having 2 kids, commuting to work by walking or biking, and only using the car on weekends or after work for errands and such, it is a family car. I've maintained it extremely well and it's got a bunch of new parts, but none are performance enhancing. At this point, I just want to keep it running as well as possible and get some more years out of my car.
