Engine Temperature in a 96 GLE

Engine Temperature in a 96 GLE

I have 3 4th gens, a 95 gxe, a 96 gle, and a 99 I30 cali spec.

When the cars are warmed up, both the 95 & the 99 temp gauge needle sit at about 9 o'clock. The 96, however sits at about 8 o'clock. (BTW: no codes or other issues)

I first noticed this about a year ago, the car seemed to be taking a long time to warm up. After some searching, I replaced the thermostat, assuming it was stuck open. The temperature still reads a little bit low and I have no other symptoms.

I am not really worried, since there don't appear to be any problems. I would like some input from other org'ers. Any thoughts?

Where does your temperature gauge sit?

i'm sure its fine, anything in the normal range shouldn't be worried about except if you have fluctuations.

If there are no apparent problems, there's nothing to worry about. Pretty much the entire middle half of the gauge is 'normal'.

The stock gauge is a joke. I have an aftermarket temp gauge which moves all over while the stock needle doesn't even budge. When you're in the "normal" range temps could be anywhere from 150-220*. Don't sweat it! LOL

sometimes my temp guage needle wont move at all even after driving the car for 20 mins and other times its fine or it will start in the middle then drop back down jus above c

Sounds like a failing thermostat.

ok ill change that and see what happens because the mechanic had me change the 2 sensors and it did nothing thanx
