how to wire low beam to go on with high beam
#41
The reason that it isn't a good idea to put them right at the bulbs is because they drop the voltage significantly, which will reduce the brightness of the bulbs, and will likely burn out the diodes quickly. If they are placed at the relays, the voltage drop is the same, but the relays need far less current than the bulbs, so the diodes will not burn out, and there will be no voltage drop at the bulbs.

The 9007 conversion is a joke. Filament placement is incorrect. You can't drop an axial filament bulb into a reflector designed for a transverse filament. It's pretty obvious from the pictures. Yes, it increases output. It also increases distance, because both filaments are lighting up the high beam and the low beam section of the reflector. Rather than having real high beams and low beams, the 9007-converted headlights have two lowish-highish beams, one being marginally brighter. Obviously, it looks better to you in the driver's seat, because your high beams are partially on all the time, but it makes a lot of glare. Just look at that terrible wall shot on the vqpower page.
