OBX V2 VQ35 Headers installed on a 4th gen
#82
So the install was straightforward huh? Good to know. What size is the connection to the cat on these headers? And where'd you feel the gains (if any) with these? The investment to me would be worth it for the awesome sound but I'm curious about the gains as well.

You should tag your vids better man, I've been looking for exactly what you posted for a while now....

Yah, it was, just a lot of being silly and not removing things I should which caused me a lot of trouble.
2.5".
This is where things get complicated, I had a pretty nasty Y-pipe leak (click here to see this vid), so my gains could be felt from just fixing the leak or because of the headers, that can account for the rediculous amount of low range I have. Like shifting at 2k to keep up with traffic now. The biggest improvement is the midrange though, 3.5.-5k the car is hauling (as shown on the dyno), which I think IMO is the main gain from these, you see like a 20+ ft/lb gain at 4.5k.

thanks vq'rinwla, appreciate it. have you done emissions yet? is it possible to pass with just y-pipe?
aackshun, do you know how low the obx equal length headers/y-pipe sits relative to the stock y-pipe? just roughly, trying to find the best the most info when i tackle my exhaust in a month or so.

You can pass with a y pipe. Just gotta drive it around for 20 mins and make sure its all warmed up. Keep it running while youre waiting to get smogged. Oh and be sure to have NO codes. Youll be fine.
As for emissions, yyyyeah

With my high flow cat which is fs, shouldn't be a problem

Seems to be the same clearance, if not less, I haven't scraped my headers unsuspectingly yet, even though i am having a crash shield installed once I ceramafy them.
Crash shield? Another word for a skid plate right?

I might be interested in your HFC. I just want to gauge what my exhaust sounds like once I get the headers in.

Yup
I added you on aim, go ahead and sign on there, we'll discuss further, I forget you're in L.A. you guys are a bit strict, my HFC is a HFC, still has the filters and stuff, not a test pipe.
