95 max with Bose, amp question
#2
Each speaker has it's own amplifier attached to the speaker housing. If both speakers went out at the same time it's unlikely it's an amplifier issue.
Now would be a good time to upgrade. The cost of replacing the Bose system is going to be expensive if you have to have amps repaired and the chance of finding good used speakers that are ten years old minimum would be slim.
A set of 6.5 components for the front and 6.5 full range for the back along with a cheap head unit would make all your problems go away.
This is all just my opinion but I ran my Bose head unit until it died then put in a fresh system. The Bose system sounds nice right up until you upgrade then all it's failings become clear.

Sounds like the Bose headunit went bad. Pick up a working used one for peanuts here in the Classifieds section. This is your easiest and cheapest option.
But first, I'd do some troubleshooting and pull the deck out and check the connections at the back etc.

Anyone know of an aftermarket head unit that looks remotely factory? My main reason for not replacing Bose is all the head units I see that are all ultra flashy seem to rice up the interior of the car in a negative way (IMHO).

theres 2 or 3 fuses for bose, check them out. also if your willing to try an internet home remmedy, heat gun your bose unit or throw that sucker in the oven... Just make sure you take out all the plastic parts first. the likelyhood of you blowing two amps is neigh, if your willing hook the rear amps to a 12V power supply Computer PSU's work great, run a low level signal or high level whatever to the other two wires NOT RED AND BLACK and see if youve got MASSIVE amounts of distortion or anything abnormal.

Why not stay factory? The Pathfinder and Z33 head units look stock, and are basically plug and play. Having an in-dash 6 CD changer is nice as well.
