Reprogramming computer?

Is there a way to reprogram the internal computer for my 1997 Maxima SE? Or, can you buy a new chip?
Either way, what will this accomplish? (i.e., change of torque, better fuel economy, etc.)
Can anyone tell me about the computer? I am fairly new to the Maxima world, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanx, Corey

you can get the GForce ECU or the JWT ECU or you can send your ecu to JWT to get worked on. you can get the jwt at www.cattman.com . as for the gforce i think you should email cheston aka chebosto or checkout www.maximadriver.com for more info. what this will do? give you more hp all through the power band with the max. increase at mid range.
