Custom exhaust ideas....

Well me being a ricer and wanting to cut a hole in the bottom of my midpipe or whatever (after the cat before the muffler) and making my car loud it actually sounds good. lol I get complements on how well it sounds from everyone. No rasp smooth deep tone. But one problem persists, the cabin noise is unbearable. You cant hear the person next you, and its been like this for a while. Soo one of my buddies has a stock piece to replace mine. Im gonna eventually get tired of the quite-ness of the stock piece. So im planning on making a custom exhaust. Idea im seeing which i know one or two of the members on here have done; cutting the resonator out and putting a straight piece in there and replace the muffler with a flowmaster 40 series. Anyone have experience with this and how it sounds in person? pros cons? Im Looking for a smooth deep tone with minimal cabin noise and budget friendy. I have a friend who welds so thats one good thing. Anyone have any other ideas?(besides going to ebay)

you could always keep what you have and put sound deadener on the inside of your car (under carpet, behind door panels, etc)

I would just cover up that hole and add a Flowmaster Or Magnaflow muffler. Then if you want it to be a little louder, delete the resonator and add a straight pipe.

^ What he said, start w/ the muffler first, it does most of the sound deadening work in the catback.

[Edit] Ah I know who you are... I like how 4/5 posters are all friends on FB.

i have a 2.5 all the way to the muffler and i took resonator out, it sounds good and its not loud at all inside the cabin...Maybe you should go with a full 2.5 and a electronic cut out so you can control it whenever you want it louder or not.. I have my 3" sitting in my garage with my e/cut out, but i never got to mount it yet..

ill link a video so you can hear how mine sounds.. but the video im posting has a slight leak from my catalytic so please dont be too harsh on me guys

maybe the cattman b-pipe will give me the tone that CMax has, but the time of purchasing what i have..the b-pipe wasnt for sale... hence what i have now. and yes, i like it alot besides dont feel like going back to the welding shop and have them back under my car to make a flange and bolt on a new/used bpipe

yea you wouldnt believe the rasp i had prior to adding teh cherry bomb, it made me hate driving this car. but no cat/test pipe. i've lately been hearing a slight bit more rasp so i may add a test pipe, but i'm not sure..i have some more pressing matters right now other than this car, so for now it sits

OP if your full exhaust is stock try removing your muffler and replace it with a straight pipe. i did that to replace the fart can i had and it sounds like cmax's exhaust but a bit quieter. i always go outside and hear my car when i would lend it to my little brother and no rasp what so ever...

thats good that you like it and that all that matters. but i'm just saying, IMO cherry bombs & glass packs wouldnt be in my choices of exhaust of exhaust components.

I'm running an 18" Cherry Bomb glasspack on my 3rd gen and it does it's job well...I was really impressed for such a cheap price! The only thing is as time goes by and they age, they get louder since there's no stainless steel wool inside the glasspack, just fiberglass!

I'm impressed,.......another trick to quiet the rasp are resonated tips ( they really work)

yea i'm seeing that now. ill figure out what ima do here later on, right now its not a pressing issue, i'm more concerned about getting a set of coilovers then go back under and mess with my cherry bomb.
