Couple of problems

98 Maxima

Sometimes I have to move the steering wheel back and forth and struggle to get the key to turn. Would that be a bad key cylinder?

Sometimes car wont start and I have to move the shifter and slam it into park and it will crank right up. Any ideas on this one?

Ok, im really hoping you are kidding...

1. the steering wheel locks, you must move it left or right to unlock the lock cylinder in order to turn the key.

2. it doesnt start sometimes b/c you arent fully in park. You know how when you place it in park the car moves forward a bit and you hear a "click" thats when you are in park. If that doesnt happen the car will not start.

If you shut it off with the wheel turned to the side, the wheel will come to rest against the steering wheel lock. When you do this you have to turn the wheel off the lock to turn the key. Its normal, center the wheel before shutting car off.

Your park/neutral safety switch is on its way out, replace.

Not necessarily. When I park I put my e-brake up, and sometimes I do that the car doesnt fully go into park. It could be that his car just isnt going into park fully and the switch isnt clicking
