Power Window Woes...

Hey guys,

My '96 is getting a little long in the tooth, but I'd like to still keep it around - mechanically I think the car has quite a bit left in her (~200k) but the power windows are falling like flies!

First, the drivers window seems to be falling off the track. it doesn't roll down all the way (gets to a certain point then seems to roll "forward" if that makes sense). Then when you go to roll it back up, you have to pull the window towards the B pillar or else it'll just fall forwards. That one shouldn't be hard to fix (I hope).

The other windows... I'm more worried about. One rear window you can't roll down - it'll never roll back up. I think the other rear window is fine (I can't remember to be honest, lol). The front passenger window has really gotten bad - it won't roll up or down now, it seems like the motor isn't even trying. The window is partially cracked, and I would love to just close the damned thing and worry about it later - but it seems the window is still firmly in the track, as I can't pull it up with my hands. The other windows that would do this I was able to coax back into sealing, and I would just lock the switch and remember to not roll 'em down.

The passenger window is obviously the most pressing. Is there some way I can get the window to close, or am I going to have to tear apart the door and replace the motor? Never removed my door before, so if anyone in Denver wants to come by and help I'd love it. Beer a-plenty! Thanks guys.

Edit - disregard. Evidently the window was locked, lol. Really need to doublecheck my girlfriends "troubleshooting"... My fault guys. So I got the passenger window closed .

Any tips on windows that have fallen off the track, I'd still like to hear. So all windows function, but some do not roll down/back up properly. Last I checked 3 of the 4 windows cannot be rolled down because they won't roll back up properly. The drivers side is pretty easy to roll back up, but the rear windows... not so much. Thanks again guys.

Edit 2 - watching those videos makes me think it's just off the actuator. I guess I'll pull it apart sometime and see what's what. I'm just concerned I'll be blankly staring at it not seeing how to fix it .

I have a working window regulator if you want it off the drivers side of a 95 Maxima GLE. I'll sell it for 40$ plus shipping from canada.

theres really no way for any of us to know what your problem is until you take the door panels off. but i dont see how your window would just "fall off the track." unless you were ****ing with it. chances are you just need a new divers side regulator setup to fix all the problems. i used duct tape to hold my window up when i was having a similar problem.

Say, wasn't there a "window regulator problem" thread where one of the org members fixed his just by spraying the track, etc. with WD40 or equivalent? That's what I'm going to try first. Sometimes my two passenger side windows will go down and up real slowly. When it's very cold out, they won't even budge.

What do you use to lube the tracks? I think I read somewhere that you don't want to use WD-40 so what is recommended??
