Key fob question

Has anybody ever tested their keyfob by using one of the machines at the auto parts store? My other cars keyless activates the light when I hit the button on the fob, but my nissan does not.

I assumed that my fob was bad cause I can't get it to program, so I purchased another with the same fcc from ebay that was "guaranteed to work" and it does not work either, I can not get it to program.

I took this new (but used) one up to the store, and it too did not emit a signal that caused the machine to light up.

Do these fobs not emit a light and it is possibly something with the car? Or is it more probable that I got another bad fob?

Might not be the fob. The car might not be getting the signal. Water on the receiver or whatever nissan calls it?

Take it to the dealer and have them check the remotes with thier machine. They shouldn't charge you to do it but the average remote cost from the dealer is going to be 105.45... (part #28268-40U20) if its bad.

Also.. yes I've tried to get Autozones display "Tool" to work with my remote and it didn't work.

That's what my concern was - maybe these remotes do not trigger the machine. My GM remote did as did another remote that one of the store employees had. The only one that didn't trigger it was my Nissan remote.

I emailed the seller and told him that I could not get it to program and that I had it tested by the machine at the auto parts store and they right away shipped out another one.

If I can't get this one to program then I will go ahead and assume that it's something wrong with the car.

Any idea where I can find the sensor/receiver for the keyless on the car?

Anything I can do to test the car itself? From what I understand, if you do the procedure and the hazards blink, then I am in programming mode and the car is operating fine and if it doesn't do anything when I hit a button on the remote then it is something with the remote.

Are you doing the procedure correctly?

Yes. The hazards flash and then I have tried turning it to acc and to on then hit the button.

Nothing works.

After the hazards flash (after putting the key in and out six times), you're supposed to turn the key to the ACC position and the press the lock button on the fob. After that, the hazards should flash again and you're good to go.

It sounds like you did it wrong.

How does it sound like I did it wrong? I just said that I have tried it both ways, going to acc and when that didn't work i went to the on position.

I have tried it every which way. Guys give me some credit here this procedure is not rocket science. Let's assume I'm doing it right, is there anything to check on the car?

Nope... It's either the Fob, Reciever, or the procedure. If you are a 100% sure the procedure is correct, the next step is to get the fob checked. Than if the fob is good... get someone to check with a scanner that the receiver is working correctly,

If you get the lights to flash, its in the right mode, mine only worked at on position but did it without fail. If its not triggering, either the unit in the trunk, passenger side behind trunk lining is bad, or the key fob is. Get an ebay one. I got one for about $15 shipped.

Thanks for the info, I'll check that area to see what I can find. I did get mine off ebay, and for $15 shipped.

FYI, ACC still didn't work on this new fob. It only worked when turned to the "on" position.

That's odd. The standard procedure is turning the key to ACC and that worked for me the day before I originally posted lol

I missed it too.

All instruction I have found says ACC as well. Didn't work after several tries. I found it odd too.
