You don't need alot of money for a 3" mandrel bent system SS or Aluminnized Steel ....This is a tubing kit and you pick the resonator/rear muffler of your choice....

Hey CMax03, I need your help. I have an A'PEXi World Speed cat-back which I bought in the condition you see in the picture:

That's about 22.83" of resonator(s). It came from a '95 VQ35 swapped max. It sounded beautiful on my '99 SE which as you can tell by the WS y-pipe this was a cali spec. I added to that a magnaflow 2.5" hi-flow cat and an aem dry-flow cone filter on a maf-adapter. Heavenly sound that I got lucky with and I know with your maxima exhaust expertise that you can help me recreate it. That car was replaced by a '97 GLE fed spec. I still have the '99 because I'm parting it out. On to the new setup; I recently got lucky on used cattman headers, y-pipe, and fast-cat. I would like to adapt that cat-back to my new project because I loved the way that exhaust sounded. At first I was going to just bolt it on but now I was wondering if I can modify it to a 3" setup. This leaves me with several questions. I'm looking at the MES 3" piping kit. I don't know if you can answer this but which cat, resonator(s), and muffler would you recommend for this to make it sound the same? If I wanted a true 3" exhaust I should get a 3" cat, 3" resonator(s), and 3" muffler. I don't want to spend $300 on a new 3" version of the WS2, then another $300 for a 3" fastcat, another $300 for the piping kit and I don't know what brand of resonator is on this exhaust. I know you've got to pay to play so finally I think the easiest solution to this would be to use the exact setup that I have and weld in a cut-out before the cat for all out hp when I want it. What are your thoughts?

LOL at "Resistance"

Cattman screwed himself, not the "Resistance" as you put it.

Wizard I can't wait to this thing. Please give me your opinion on my setup. Since I already have a decent exhaust and I'm just searching for the last bit of power, will a cutout do that for me, what are your thoughts? I've seen a similar setup where the cutout, open or closed, didn't change the output. I can post the video of the dyno but I'm sure you know who I'm talking about.

You can run your Cattman Headers with that 2.5" High Flow Cat, and 2.5" Catback with a cutout since you already have a catback and call it the day.....Or invest into a MES 3" tubing kit with resonator and muffler.....I'm not quite sure what kinda money you have?

I'm a DIY kinda guy and my funds are broke college kid. Hey, I'm not sure but I think I have the 2.75" fastcat. Only thing I'm worried about with the cutout is AFR change. Oh, and I'll buy the mes 3" tubing kit etc. but I'm going to run this one first so that I can get help recreating the sound. I've always wanted a 3" but I'll have to save for it a little bit because after the piping kit, resonator, muffler, cat, flanges, etc. it will add up.

The flanges are $9.99 (ea) at Columbia River Mandrel bent exhaust, Get the biggest muffler you can fit in the rear (12579) and resonator (12649) or (18129)...GL! You might wanna look at Vibrant mufflers and resonators as well...but you should order the vibrant stuff thru sportscompactwarehouse.com to save some money!

That comes out to between $500 and $600. That includes a 100-200 cell 3" cat, the muffler and resonator you listed, two flanges, and mes aluminized 3" piping kit. Not bad in my book. I didn't include labor. I'd say if you bought that pre-made from a company you'd be spending at least double that. For now I'll research the cut-out and see if it will function as I think it would and what negative side effects it could possibly have. Well that's as far as I can go at the moment so thank you for your help, I'll be back when I get closer to getting this thing running.

If you go the 2.5" route hang the largest Magnaflow resonator you can and you'll be very happy......I believe in going as big as I can go, when it comes to mufflers...

Sounds racecar but clean. I've changed plans a bit. Resonator wise I want the longest that can fit with flanges welded directly onto it. Muffler wise I want the apexi sound so they actually make a 3" version. http://www.apexi-usa.com/store/exhau...urbo-80mm.html

Honestly it sounds like you have an exhaust leak.....and slightly raspy....put some miles on it, so the soot can coat the exhaust interior and it will sound better....
