4th gen UDP Interest?????

Anyone looking for an expensive durable UDP? I had some made for the 3rd Gen VG guys a few years back....I'll more than likely go that some route with my 98 Maxima....Anyone else interested estimate cost is under $200....IIRC the cost was about $150-$185.....

UR already makes one for the 4th gen.

And an underdrive pulley is nearly worthless anyway. $185 for a couple of hp, not to mention the negative aspect of having an underdrive pulley...no thanks.

For the cost and aggrecation for very minimal gains its not worth it to most, dont take it to heart but an udp is more a pain than its worth...its kind of one of those things people buy just to say they have one...

Hold out your hand and I'll give you an OEM and a Billet aluminum crank pulley....Maybe they can't measure the benefit with their a$$ but I'm positively assured there's plenty of benefits from it just reducing the weight on the crank alone.....

The extra 2HP is not worth an undercharged battery or warm AC. If you had a stock diameter lightweight aluminum pulley made, well then you might have buyers.

That already exists too, well kind of. I worked with UR years ago and they made me and Ptatohed stock diameter lightweight aluminum pulleys. Not sure if it's available to the masses though as it's not on their website.

That was done for the VG Sohc 3rd gen as well, we made an UDP and an OEM lightweight crank pulley....I've been running a UR UDP (on my 03 VQ35DE) for 8 yrs and I've had an ice cold A/C and with an Optima redtop no problems (audio guys have problems with UDP's)... I've even been running the same belts since I installed the UR UDP....But no biggie guys I'll have some made and those that want one will have a chance to buy one!

WTF are you talking about! Our engines are internally balanced....This isn't a Detroit engine with a matched harmonic balancer! My 03 VQ35 and running smooth and strong and it's had a UR UDP for 8 yrs.....130K+ miles.....

Internally balanced or not you cannot convince me. they are not stock and do not dampen the vibration engineers are not stupid

at all of the unproven claims in this thread, this is why I take what people think/say on the .org w/ a grain of salt.

Anyways, I will text you Cmax, I just saw the prices on a UDP and got shocked, I definitely want to put one on my white car too.

Harmonic balancer is a bit of a misnomer. A harmonic damper is used to dissipate the harmonic oscillations caused by torque loading imposed on the crankshaft during the power stroke of each cylinder. If you look at the VQ30 balancer (damper) you will see it is two piece, bonded with an elastomer band. Replacing the the stock damper with one piece part could (not will) result in stress cracks and eventual separation at the oil galley or fillet areas of the cranckshaft. Use at your own risk.
I will say that the VQ has proven itself in longevity and brute strength. If any engine could live without a harmonic damper, it would be this one.

+1 to me it's not worth the money or risk for 2hp
