A/C Alternator belt question

While reinstalling my alternator, I got carried away with loosening the tensionor bolt that is accessible from the top of the engine bay. I was not able to get the belt on with loosening BOTH bolts extremely loose. Pic for reference.

Now, the top of that 14mm nut is BELOW the bracket making is impossible to get a socket on it. I took out the whole bracket and started turning it both ways and it was not moving.

My question is, should I just buy another one of these bolts (http://www.courtesyparts.com/11935u-...-p-189567.html) and hope that will be able to give me enough room to put the belts on. Or, am I doing something else wrong.

I really wish I saw this video before, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJzpT...6&feature=plcp.

yea double check that belt size, you shouldn't have to back off that tensioner that much in order to get the belt to fit

Dude VisciousMo if you are in San Antonio, go down to Pic n pull over on the South side. I pulled off everything you have in your hand off an I30, and got it for around 6 bucks. Mine seized like yours. I torqued my bolt in half. It should move easily with a socket.

But yeah there were plenty of those bolts and bracket at that place.

all this is for the Bolt issue really. Not sure on the belt size but seems REALLY fishy to have it that loose in order to work.

Prometh, I would but not having a car with work and school. It will be tough to do that. I just bought the part from Nissan down the street from me (I'm in the UTSA area). I'm going to have a buddy come down and look at it tonight to see what I'm doing wrong.
