Car not starting.....WHY?

I have a 95 Maxima. It was running fine except it had a bad oil leak from the rear valve cover. I've got a couple of estimates and both around the $400 area. I've researched this forum and the web and decided to do the work myself. I've took everything apart and put it back together again. Then now the time of truth comes around, I try to start the car and it turns but won't start. I check the diagnostic codes and I've got codes 0101 and 1008. Would one of these codes make it not start or should I go back and try to redo all the connections and hoses. Maybe I missed something? Any suggestion on what to do? Thank you for your help.

PS. The car was running fine before I tried to fix it. Why did I mess with it!!!

Are your codes correct? There's a p0101 (MAF circuit/performance prob) BUT I dunno about 1008. There's a P0108 (MAP high input). Most likely a vacuum leak or incorrect connection. Try replacing all of 'em too.

Minor in the grand scheme of things since no driveability issues, but yes fix it. Pull evap Vent valve off charcoal canister via 2 10mm bolts, Check inside Evap vent Valve to ensure the plunger is moving when power applied and that it will move by inserting a screw driver and prying it. If it will not move freely, PB Blast it and let it sit to free the rust. Watch this video for the how to Vent Valve Fix

Check the wire harness and connector for the 0101 cam code before you get a new sensor and check that all the vacuum hoses have been reconnected to the solenoid valves by the front valve cover on the driver's side.

I got a problem where I go to turn the key and nothing happens. Most likely the cam sensor, but could be any number of things. I'm just driving the damn thing as a daily driver till I go to arizona next April and get me a rust free 4th gen maxima. It still starts fine, just take a little teasing, thats all.

Thank you guys for your help. I went and took the cam sensor out and cleaned it. I went and cleaned the 2 grounds up by the intake manifold. I took out that EVAP which
I saw the video what to do and did it to the tee. I put it all back together and guess what, it started right up. It is running like a champ and also no smoky oil leak. Thank you for your help. I'll try to help if I can one day also.

PS. ran the diagnostic check and just got 0505. Which means everything good.

Cleaning the cam sensor may only work for a little while...that's what happened with me. Worked for about a week then it just would not start. Got one from a jy for $15 at that point. Glad you got your stuff figured out! Good luck.
