Quick Exhaust Question (Fitment)

Will this muffler fit a 99? I would assume it will because it fits 97 and older, but i
want to make sure before I drop the money for it.

http://www.carid.com/1997-nissan-max...rs-848387.html
Thanks (:

It's just a universal muffler. You could put that thing on a 80s Buick if you wanted to.

what are you going for? Sound or OEM sound muffling? Do you want to sounds like a riced Civic or a prius? Or something inbtwn?

I bought a Dynomax 17748 Super Turbo muffler for my car and LOVE it! Lets out a bit more sound than stock but not at all ricer or loud. Just a hint of agression with the stock VQ. Coupled it with a nice tip and:

All i'm really looking for is a nice, deep sounding note. I don't want to be waking the neighborhood up, but i want it to be deeper then stock and sound a little more agressive

well that pretty much describes my Dynomax 17748 to a T. No drone at all, either. I love mine. Amazon has it for like 55 bucks iirc. The only thing, it does NOT bolt right up, you'll have to do a bit of welding due to the location of the inlet/outlet pipes, but no big deal for any shop or w/e.

here's a vid of stock and then of the Dynomax, both with my car.

stock:

after muffler/tip:

NO other mods to exhaust at all.

Well i googled it, and the first thing to come up was this video "
"

And i think i would fancy a slightly deeper note, kind of like a grumble.

This is the sound i was thinking of -

do you have any other intake/exhaust mods? Remember, mine's bone stock. So yours will sound different if you do.

the above vid of the greddy catback, see, to me that sounds a bit ricer. But that's also a dual exhaust, AND the whole cat-back. We're not necessarily going to be able to duplicate that with our 4th gen with single exhaust.

Girlfriend hinted at getting me a CAI, (kept asking about brands), so im hoping for that

And yea, i get that :/ but the OEM exhaust just sounds... blech, like a dying frog

Most cat backs will give you that sound, or something very close to it.

These muffler sound great with no drone at all as he said, I've used them for about 5 years on my D21....and after going thru 2 mufflers in Texas/Louisiana....I figure I'd go with a stainless steel muffler that would last virtually forever...(Magnaflow 6" round, 14" long) and it's been installed without a problem for over 10 yrs....The Super Turbo muffler rust/rot from the inside out since there only aluminized steel! My point is spent $25 more more bucks for more durability.....Go SS at least, the bigger the quieter! Or find a SS turbo reverse flow muffler....Good luck guys!!!!

What you're lookin for is ebay short ram (or cold, any kind), ebay cat back and a muffler to replace the hideous ebay fart can muffler your exhaust came with. You're welcome

So by "Ebay Cat", you mean something along the lines of this? http://www.ebay.com/itm/95-99-NISSAN...13bb7f&vxp=mtr

Yes, that's an ebay cat back. Make sure its 304 steel, Mandrel bent. There might be fitment issues with it, nothing too bad but still really worth the price. Cmax also has a thread going about Manuel bent aluminzed AND stainless steel systems in 2.5" and 3" ask him about it!

It's a bit more than ebay for an aluminzed system buy fitment is supposedly great. You could sand it a bit and throw on exhaust paint to prevent corrosion for aluminzed. Downside is that you're gonna have to buy a muffler... this can also be a plus since u get to choose exactly what muffler style u want

I had a Dynomax super turbo muffler (street version) too. It made no sound whatsoever, but had terrific flow.

THe flowmaster 40 is gonna be hella loud lol .

Thats simply a classic glass-pack resonator. Probably been around for 30+ years.

The upside is you can fit any combo of mufflers or resonators YOU want!

Kind of off the main topic, but would you suggest a CAI or an SRI? I don't do a lot of city driving, mostly rural roads (50-60mph, between 1k-2k rpms for most of the trip).

thats a lot of intake sound. the header back is well muffled. and imo thats mild sounding. these are siiiick! equal length y pipes FTW

my vq30de unequal length y + stock headers ONLY.

i now have a 2.5" oval style muffler and 00vi. the 00vi changes sound a bit, it doesn't sound as reedy nearing redline like the usim. not ricey but i don't like the tone
