JWT POP - happy customer
I went trolling through the archives to see what people thought about the pop charger as I was not about to spend $200 on a CAI (I'm a cheap bastard). Most people were complaining about low end torque loss and I couldn't disagree more. Of course, I didn't remove the bottom half of the stock airbox (to allow for fresh air to come in from the scoop up front), but I notice no degredation in low end power whatsoever. First gear never impressed me much to begin with, but 2nd and 3rd have that nice growl I was looking for. Sounds stock with 1/4 throttle, but the second you get on it, it has that nice sound that makes you want to keep the car at 3/4 throttle more often <wink>. Anyway, anyone looking at the POP charger should go for it, I am one happy customer. I think I would suggest leaving the bottom half of the airbox on (never had it off, so I'm not sure, but it can't hurt.)

Yes. You just take out the top part of the stock box and let the bottom part support the POP. I put mine in yesterday. I think my MPG is going to go down alot as I cannot keep out of the gas.

As for low end loss, I think it is only the autos that are complaining... poor saps.

Resonator being the lower half of the air box? I'm car part stupid. Mechanically inclined - can do things if I see them, but the word resonator means nothing to me.

At idle your 100% correct in losing some low end. BUT I think it is made up in the high end. It's worth it just for the sound to me.

I am auto.
I felt the lag IMMEDIENTLY.
I loved the Growl.
I switched to CAI.
I felt the throttle response come back.
The sound absolutely blows away the pop-sound.
Pop sound = bum bum bum
CAI sound = ****ed off dragon/Racing sound (waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah)
IMO,
If you want a real intake, get a cold air intake.

CAI you pay $120 for $3 of pipe. I just do not get it. I know it is better than POP because of the fresh air. But $120
