You guys really should check out the Maximas from areas that do not use road salt. You can buy a rust free one. No body work needed, paint still good. The nuts still turn. The cost is not much more than the OP is paying to have all that work of ? quality ? by MAACO.

I know that you are both commited and stuck with what you have. This post is intended for those who look at your post later on. AIn the South and the west coast states there are a lot of Maximas with good bodies that are up ther in imiles. They are pretttuy cheap these days. If you could transfer the parts from your low-mileage rust buckets to a high mileage western or southern Maxima you would have a good car .

Totally agreed. New England is horrible. My car only has 125k I can only imagine that engine in a rust free car.

mines rust free and has almost 131k miles lol but heck u still got low miles, atleast not in the 200k-300k range.


but body work looks like its going well.

Lol. Lucky you live in a salt free place. When I bought mine it only had 109k. Oh I'm painting the Max Silvia Blue.

I used to live in Salt Lake City. Lots of snow, but the city has the perfect envirnment for road salt . Scoop it out of the Great Salt Lake, put it all over the streets. The lowest point in the vally is the Great Salt Lake, so back it went. We coud drive at normal speeds the day ag=fter a snow storm. The car fenders looked like dolies. Nuts and bolts rusted together, and looked like your car. Once I moved to Portland, it was a whole different world. Three feet of rain a year, but no road salt. I drive a 96 maxima and a 92 Nissan pickup. Over here there is not much rust. all the bolts still turn on the muffler clamps, the suspension, the muffler. Oh, the radiator support you guys replace, mine is perfect. I use the engine support that is attached to the radiator support as thespot where I put my floor jack to lift the car when I work on it. Realy people, use e-bay or something to find a rust free car. My maxima has 190k, thr truck 114k, my sons 94 Nissan truck has 250k. All rust free.

Lol. I need to move out there then! My max would die in your old town. I replaced my fenders due to rust. Car is originally from NY. I'm in CT so it had its share of salt. Funny thing when I bought it the car barely had rust. I just replaced my radiator support which tempted me to get the car painted all around.

maaco is no different than any other mechanic/body shop that takes cars in and lets them sit there for months. great business idea to sell them some kind of software that would alert these *********** of how much back-log they have.

Lol. Amen. It's a typical body shop with a franchise name. It's bondo and fiberglass on the rocker panels.

i got news for you, my body shop put METAL to replace the rust. none of my max has any bondo or fiberglass, all metal. looks and feels solid. i would never waste my time with maaco ever again, i hope your car turns out ok. hopefully they'll put enough paint and bake it on to make you happy. their quality of watered down paint you gotta use alot of to cover.

I got the 3rd level paint job from Maaco last year (I think it was their Supreme with clear coat) and it turned out great, and they did a value prep and the whole thing came out to less than $800. Painted in White, but the car was a factory pearl which would have been more expensive.

A year later it still looks good, but I just wish they'd sold me a clear bra on the front, because I have rock chips all over, and the paint on the grill chipped off in a large flake awhile back. So, when they come with the next bumper paint special, I'll have to get it re-done.

Looking really good, but you have to wonder how long it will last like others are saying here.

I think all these body shops are crooks for the most part and half *** what they can to cut back on labor and time. Don't know what body shops to trust any more.

Might be better off finding individual guys that do body work, but even those are a hot or miss. Most will probably have some kind of a "record" lol

OP, looking good. As long as you pop in every day or two, and make sure they don't **** something up, this should turn out ok! Needs higher res pics, though!

I went that route before with another car I owned that had a smashed in rear fender. This guy worked out of a garage in the back of his house, and always had cars he fixed up. His work was good, but he got me a $2,000 job for $650...so even though it got the door working again, it came out like crap. Then when time was up, he drove the car to me, which I wasn't too okay with lol, cause I had to take them back.

I decided to go with Macao this time because they have a shop within walking distance from my house and the commuter train I needed to take to get to the airport rental car. If you have a decent car, they will not recommend less than the 3 or 5 year paint job.

I'm really confused as to why they have decided against removing the bumpers and lights to do this kind of work. If everything isn't taped off absolutely perfectly, there are going to be cutoff lines on the work and won't the bumpers ended having paint sealing them to the quarter panels? That would mean that if the bumper ever needs to come off then you can run the risk of peeling paint off of a corner or edge or something.

I'm not an expert in painting by any stretch of the imagination, but that just seems like a logical outcome of what appears to be pretty blatant corner cutting.

I hope it turns out well for you man. God knows you've been through more headache than I would have tolerated from those clowns.

i've never seen a body shop leave plastic bumpers on and bondo them before. lights either, i think in the end it'll turn out alright. f'in ridiculous how long it's taking them

please, that's a given with those idiots. i would'nt trust maaco to take dents out of a trash can, let alone fix my ride. their shop looks so unorganized, it's like they don't even care what the customers think. damn, i mean, take an air hose and at least blow the **** off the cars some nights.
