Need help! Please! 95 nissan maxima

95 Nissan Maxima, I was changing out my car spark plugs all 6 and I notice when I got to the rear 3 spark plugs there was oil on them... so I brought the rear valve gasket cleaned out the spark plug holes and cleaned the sludge off of everything and hook everything back together... and when I cranked my car I and push down the gas pedal I heard a loud pop noise... so I turn it back off and tried to crank it again... it turned on but when I go to push the gas pedal the car shuts off completely! did I not hook up something right???

Welcome to Maxima.org

Let us go through the steps taken to fix the oil leak for the other members.

1) An oil leak was found in the rear three spark plug wells.
Note: This can be from a leaking spark plug well seal that is mounted to the rear valve cover.

2) A gasket kit was bought that contains valve covers and spark plug well (hole) seals

Question_1: Was the Upper Intake Manifold (UIM) removed to replace the rear gasket and spark plug well grommets?

Questions_2: Can you provide a picture of the areas (parts, connections, and hoses) that were hooked up after the gasket and seals were replaced?

Ok - I think we posted about the same time..

The hose being removed at 13:23 allows coolant to flow through the throttle body to the EGR. I have 99 models with the electric EGR valve instead of a vacuum controlled EGR on the 95 model. So my EGR will look different.

Here's a picture of the coolant hose running from the throttle body to the EGR.

Does this help?

Did you see this guy's video? He shows the coolant supply hoses.

Note: I've seen cases over the years where a coolant hose was hooked up to a vacuum hose by mistake. When the car starts it will pull coolant into the intake manifold. Double check the vacuum lines are only connected to other vacuum lines.

Is there any chance that a screw or a small part may have fallen one of the intake manifold openings or into one of the spark plug holes?

Can you get a mechanics stethoscope or use a tube to listen to find the area where the noise is coming from?

I would try to run it as little as possible until you isolate and locate the noise.

Maybe I put those gasket in the wrong way, the ones that go over the spark plugs hoes? Idk...

Could some coolant have been picked up by vacuum into the intake when there was a hose connection problem earlier and you noticed a loud bang?

If coolant got into a cylinder on a compression stroke -- the way my luck runs I would be looking a hole that would been blown through the side of the block or the top of the piston...
