Paint the hood?

What are your opinions on getting the hood painted? I have several rocks chips along the front of my hood. I read something a while back on this web site about air brush touch ups that were designed for scratches and rock chips, but I don't know of anyone who does it? Has anyone had any experience with it. Also, if I have to get the whole repainted is there anything in particular I should know before I do this. All I know to say is "Make it look like it never happened." Also, what do you think this should cost. I know when someone backed into me and crushed my driver side back door, I got a new door and the whole left half of the car painted for $1200 with that expensive pearl white paint with the chips in it. Recently, I saw a commercial that said paint jobs were half off and were being advertised for $250. Does this sound right to you?

If you repaint it, make sure to use 3M protectant film over the front of the hood where the chips are, do a search for 3M film online or something, its like an invisible car bra

Rosewood I think is the Nissan name. It's a dark burgundy.

Can anyone give first hand knowledge about this 3M protective film, if it's worth it, where I can get it, and how hard is it to put on?

For the same price of proffesionally refinishing your hood, you could get a brand new carbon fiber hood with burgondy tint to added.

I see it on alot of show cars, and I'm planning to use it on my CF hood cuz... with a CF hood I dont have the option repainting it... its a good investment, there is a tiny line where the film fits on the car... it looks sweet
