Front Sub-frame Bushing Replacement Question

Has anyone replaced the front sub-frame bushings?

The bushings on the 99 SE are worn out and making noise.

I see ES sells Motor Sub-frame Bushings

I have successfully installed sub-frame collars on the G50. Actually it uses S14/240SX sub-frame collars.

Here's a picture from a VQPower article.

Here's a sub-frame picture.

Here's a picture of the S14/240SX Sub-frame Spacers that I installed on the G50

If anyone has installed sub-frame collars, are there any regrets?

Too funny!

I am curious about all the same things as you!

Have you done the bushings and link in the rear end of the car yet? All these 16 year old flat rubber donuts or most of the donuts! LOL

I really want to know the difference between before and after, difficulty level.... and how.... along with tips that make the hard parts easier!

It seems that ES rules, but don't discount Moog too much. I bet they are very decent too, just a little closer to OE. Moog might cost more as well.

Thanks for posting GREAT threads. Same year and I have an SE as well. I have the Special Edition with Titanium gauges and rims. The car was loaded with everything except Gold Badging. It didn't match a Sterling Mist Max anyway! I do have an Automatic though.

I look forward to the responses!

I have subframe collars.
I know Amerikaner does as well.
We both love them..yes I'll speak for him on that.
Tighter steering and more predictable response was noticed as well as a slight vibration at idle.
Absolutely no regrets here.

Thanks KP! Actually I refreshed the suspension a year ago. New KYB AGX adjustable struts, H & R lowering springs, MOOG LCAs, MOOG end links, new strut bushings and bearings, and a front strut tower bar. I have some ES anti-sway bar bushings that I need to install. Needless to say that it has a crisp/performance ride that I'm sure a lot of people would find to be on the harsh side. I just need to remedy the slop and noise from the sub-frame.

Thanks Fakie for the info. Did you find yours at the link that is listed in VQPower?

Installed those collars 4 years ago. Improved the ride and steering.

Purchased from the same distributor and price as listed today on VQpower.

IDSI Corporation $89

The spacers remove the movement, noise, and tighten up slop from worn/flattened sub-frame bushings.

Its a popular mod with the 240SX/Z32 owners for the rear sub-frame. I see the 3rd gen shares 240SX/Z32 collars.

I have them in my daily. I installed them at the same time though as my Truax subframe connectors, so I can't speak to just how effective they are. This thread reminds me that I still need to install my other set in my beast.

Pic of Truax connectors (not mine)

Do you have a link or did I miss it for the IDSI?

I got mine on here a ways back and I thought that seller quit doing these.
Got a buddy wanting some now and I might need to grab some for my wife's car.

I installed the spacers this afternoon. The loose feeling and creaking noise is gone. The upper C shaped spacers were a bit loose after I installed the lowers and tightened the bolt nuts. I'm waiting to see if the car body will settle down on the upper spacers.

I actually enjoyed my ES bushed LCA and the control was really crisp...But I work out in the area of town where all the big Rigs are and the smaller street are obliterated with potholes and It was pretty rough at times....But overall I was happy but recent switched too Moog LCA and new struts...
