Please help I have a 99 maxima did a trans swap back in October and have had no issues tell last night my car would only crank tell I tapped the gas the pedal then it would start tonight I go to start car and nothing it just cranks I've thing I've read has taken me everywhere from starter to ground to cps sensor I want to know if im missing something thanks in advance

Since you recently did a trans swap, you may have a grounding issue. I'd add two new grounds from the trans bell housing to the battery to see if that does the trick.

Are you sure you're not immobilized? What's the security light doing as you crank it?

 

If the last time you started it and had to tap the gas and now cranks but no start sounds like possibly your fuel pump may be done. Try turning the key to acc and listen to see if you hear the fuel pump prime and ofcoarse check for codes.

 

I just had a similar problem, I had give it gas for it to stay on. Feels like it's getting no fuel to start up, idk. Ima do a tune up soon

 

potentially ur fuel pump almost on its way out, i mean it makes sense if you have to give it gas to start it.. so its something fuel related. or possibly a grounding issue.
