Changed my sparks plugs with platinum at 100K now at 215K should I replace?

The last time I replaced the spark plugs on my 1995 SE was about 8 years ago when it had 100K on it. Had platinum spark plugs put in back then. Now I am at 215K should I replace the spark plugs? Car runs smooth even though it idles a little high when I first start up. Just replaced my intake manifold gasket and MAF. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would suggest to do it since its been over 100k since & to avoid idle/running issues later on

100K on platinum plugs is enough, change them.

Another reason to change them...gives you an opportunity to see if you have any oil in your spark plug wells

Overdue! NGK of Course!

And as long as your coil packs survive the assault, it's quite easy!

The 4th Gen "How To's" section has details.

What do you mean by "coil packs survive the assault"?

And yes definitely time to do plugs, especially considering the cost is maybe around 30 bucks and on the vq30 plugs are easy as heck....You should clearly do it after 100k, no need to even ask.

Yup, I've opted to go this route myself. I use NGK Iridium IX and plan to change every 40-50k since its so easy and cheap.

Just that if they are original and 16 to 20 years old, to be ginger with them throughout the process. If one or two decide to give trouble after being "disturbed", we all know what that means. LOL

I wonder how many times a plug has to fire to go 100K miles. Even the platinum erodes after that amount!

If all of your driving was at 60 MPH, then your engine would have turned about 250 million revolutions, so I think that each spark plug would fire 125 million times during the 100K miles.

(more or less !)

if you're idle revs are high, turn the ecu screw to the right of the gas pedal. should be around 600 when the engine is warmed up.
