Axle question

I'm in need of a new axle for the passenger side of my 96 se 5 speed. Does it matter if it's LSD trans or not? I honestly don't know how to tell if it is or isn't. No I'm not going out to a parking lot and doing a massive burnout to find out lol.
Thanks in advance.

The VIN does not contain any reference to the transmission.

The thing about the letter V is in regards to the transmission model number that is stamped on the transmission somewhere. But I don't know where that is.

model number RS5F50A does not have LSD

model number RS5F50V does have LSD

Unless the car is originally from up north by the Canadian border, it is highly unlike to have LSD.

One way to tell is to jack one of the front wheels up off the ground. With the transmission in neutral, turn the wheel by hand. If the wheel turns, you do not have LSD. If the wheel does not turn, you have LSD.

But as 95naSTA said, the passenger side axle is the same for both types of transmissions.

The VIN plate on the firewall includes the Transmission code.
RS5F5OA=5MT open
RE4FO4A=AT open
RS5F5OV=5MT VLSD
RE4FO4V=AT VLSD

Passenger side axle is same between ALL transaxles, and drivers side is different between all i believe.

Not trying to hijack the thread Roachjuice, just avoid starting a new one for a quickie for the same part. I have a 98SE 5MT open ( RS5F5OA ). Will a passenger-side axle from any year 1995-99 fit?

It should. Plug your info into Rockauto and pull up a shaft. Click on the blue highlighted part number and it will show you all the applications it fits.
