Radiator Fan Comes On Immediately When AC Turned On
I have a 1995 Maxima with Automatic Climate Control. I recently had a new AC compressor installed. I just noticed that when I turn on my AC, that my radiator fans come on immediately and stay on (even when the engine has been sitting in a garage overnight and is cold). I recall in the past that my radiator fan came on only when the temperature reached a certain point (regardless of whether the AC was on or not). By the way, when I don’t turn on the AC, my radiator fans work fine – they come on only when the engine gets hot. But again, turning on the climate control automatically turns on (and keeps on) the radiator fans. I see this as an unnecessary electrical current drain when driving at highway speeds with the AC on. Also, I’m guessing that in the winter when I turn my defroster on, the radiator fans will also unnecessarily come on (since the defroster turns on the AC compressor). Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.
