1999 maxima front strut question
1999 maxima front strut question
Hi,
I recently took the spring off the front strut of my 99 maxima se ( all oem suspension ) and saw that the piston doesn't move to fully extended on its own. Where ever I pushed it in it stayed there. There is resistance and I hear the oil transferring inside but the piston doesn't extend on its own.
Is this OK for this car and strut? Thanks...

The strut is bad. The shaft of the strut should pop out on it's own. The seals inside are bad for this to happen. Struts don't last forever, anyway. At 100,000 miles, they are past due for replacement.
