STRUT/SHOCK Alternative

  • As is common knowledge, a lot of parts are interchangeable between models. So my question is, is there a “off the shelf” shock/strut or from another Nissan model that would be suitable for the a32 that wouldn’t require shortening and be ready for a lowered spring straight away? I know a lot of the time a s13 strut is used across a range of cars, not just Nissan, as a ready to use, easily accessible, short(er) shock. I’ve tried ringing suppliers (in NZ) and they aren’t much help.
Cheers

If Koni STR-T (orange) Struts are available there, try them instead.

They are made to use full size springs and are just as comfortable with shorter springs. I believe up to 2" shorter with no problems. Reasonable and also ride a little more sporty than OEM struts. More predictable and a little firmer.

Just know, when you rebuild Maxima struts, Use OEM parts for everything but springs and struts. Nothing aftermarket lasts as long with less problems. And make sure you use these front insulator assemblies for best results:54320-40U02

Unfortunately we don’t, we really only get basics and maybe 1 or two premium models. The orange is something I haven’t come across. And I dare say it’d be super costly to import too.

You might be surprised if you can source them. Compared to OEM Nissan prices which are stupid money for Struts! STUPID MONEY! And not as good!

Maybe contact Koni direct and ask what the cross reference numbers for NZ. But you can get Koni there. http://www.georgestock.co.nz/KONI-Shock-Absorbers.asp
