In last month's Super Street a guy wrote in asking if it was possible to swap the parts which net the extra hp off of the 5th onto the 4th. This may or may not be possible, but what about a complete engine swap?

Check out E-Bay.

If you can do a swap, there was a '99 motor on there for $1,000.00 last time I looked at it. Had something like 3,000 miles on it I think.

Cost of such a swap would exceed the minimal gains expected. Wouldn't you rather take that money and just supercharge your existing VQ? I would.

What happens when you supercharge a 5th gen motor though?

Just possible or not?

Although the new Max's have the additional 32 horses, they still have the same 0-60, or so I have heard, due in part to the gain of ~180lbs. of heft. Doesn't it make sense that the faster motor would net a really nice gain in the 4th gens? Before everybody dismisses this as an idealogical dream, just think about the possibilities. I mean with all the mods out there you can only do so much to 95-99's. Starting off with that kind of extra hp and torque would be a nice surge to the adrenals
How do the motor mounts differ, and what about the tranny? Any help would be appreciated

5th gens and 4th gens do have the same motor, well, pretty much. They're both the VQ30... Just extra tweaks (intake, exhaust) on the 5th gens to get the extra hp (max hp, max torque are what's always quoted, though... that doesn't necessarily imply power gains at lower rpms...) Just food for thought.
