1995 Maxima Transmission
1995 Maxima Transmission
The transmission shifts real hard between 1st and 2nd gear. I e had it serviced at the local Nissan dealership and have kept the fluid level at the correct level but that has not solved the problem.
I think I need a new transmission and was hoping someone could recommend a good, reputable, place to get/purchase one. I know absolutely nothing about this project or what’s required. Thank you in advance for any direction you can provide.

Does the O/D OFF light blink for awhile when you first start the car?
One very common problem on these cars is the TPS or throttle position sensor. It costs about $60. Beck/Arnley is a reboxed OEM TPS. Since the screws will be galled, you will want to buy new ones. Get Hillman #45331

When you say "shifts hard," do you mean the car thunks when it shifts, or that it resists shifting until too high an RPM? If it's the former, there are a lot of threads on that on the forum. Sometimes it's just a drop resistor that needs to be replaced. If it's delayed shifting, I had that some time ago and fixed it by replacing the solenoids (for less than $100). I posted about it, and I can probably find it if that's the problem.
