New best at the track.

Went to the track this weekend and ran my best times so far. Here's my best run:

DIAL IN-0.00
REACTION-0.8825
60 FT- 2.3866
330 FT- 6.4737
1/8 ET- 9.8613
1/8 MPH-72.17
1000 ET- 12.8614
1000MPH-81.31
1/4 ET- 15.4049
1/4 MPH-88.06

How's that look? What areas need improvement? I don't go to the track that often so any help from the guys that do would be great. I'm hoping to go this coming Sunday too, so maybe I can use your tips and get a better time.

Those look like good times for an auto. I can't offer you any tips on driving the auto (I have a stick), except to experiment with manually shifting the car and keeping the OD off. Also, make sure you have the minimal amount of gas and keep your car in good running order (clean air filter, good plugs, etc.).
Happy racing!

SWEEEEEEEET!!! Glad you got your best et. How much better was it than your prior best? Not bad at all for running at 1000ft above sea level. Just for comparison, Byran has ran a best of a 15.6@90mph in his 97 SE 5 speed, Matt has run a best of a 15.0@92mph in his 92 SE 5 speed, and Charles has run a best of a 16.X@88mph (really bad 60 foot) in his 96 SE 5 speed.

Your 60 foot is still a bit slow. Are you spinning at all? The best technique to launch an auto is to hold your foot on the gas, right when the "tree" lights start to go, mash the brakes and mash the gas, on the final amber, release the brake. If you get too much wheelspin, then use a little less gas. This is called "flash stalling". The worst thing you can do is hold your foot on the brake and gas for more than 2 seconds. This creates a lot of heat and can slow your take off. Are you running your 18s at the track? If you are, take them off the front when running at the track. They suck out quite a bit of et and mph, believe me, I know. You 1/8th mile et and mph is really good. With a 2.2X 60' and no 18s, you should be extremely close to the 14s. Come on man, be the first 4th gen automagic in the 14s

I should be coming down next Sunday to race, weather permitting. We can toy with your car then. I got your e-mail about swapping in the JWT ecu. Thanks for the offer, but the auto ECU won't swap into the manual ecu.

Lower your 60 ' like Dave said. It is the most important part of the track. Most people who lower this drasticly lowere the overall times they run.

Not to nitpick but we already have a 4th gen automagic in the 14s. The funny thing is he beat a LS1 camaro with a 14.8@91mph to the f-body's 14.9@100 .

Did I mention the camaro had a clutch pedal that stuck to the floor, so the driver had no clutch and had to double clutch every upshift

Thanks for the tips.

I was running with my 17's on this time. I think I'll put my stock steel rims on next time and see if it makes any difference. I'm getting a lot of wheelspin, clear through first gear on one of my runs. My best up until now had been a 16.08. I ran it and another guy I know ran it and that was the best we could get. I need to work on my launches and then see what happens.

There's a bunch of Automatics in the 14s. I hit 15.32 with just JWT Pop and a Cat-Back. And another little do it yerself mod.

Congrats on the new time.

Im sure you can lower your 60ft to 2.2.

There are only 2 autos i know in the 14's. One is obviously Don in Texas and the other is 96sleeper. He ran a 15.0 and Veetec ran his car and was able to pull a 14.9.

They are NA.

No idea what DOn had when he ran a 14.2 NA.

96Sleeper VB Mod, ECU, Intake, Y-pipe, & catback.
