y-pipe installation?

y-pipe installation?
Hey. I am ordering a y-pipe this week and I'm like most of you...I'd like to do the work myself. When I tried putting my catback on myself, the head of the first bolt I tried taking off (the bolt connecting to the cat) busted off. I figured "screw it". So I had a muffler shop put the catback on for 45 bucks.
I would like to do the Y-pipe myself but am concerned about breaking heads off bolts. I know the bolts connecting to the cat will probably be seized like they were to the catback. But what about the other bolts for the precats? Has anyone ever broken those bolts off or can you crank on them without worrying about them breaking off when removing the old Y-pipe? Thanks.

I had no problem removing the nuts holding the y-pipe to the manifold, they all came off with a bit of torque.
The nus on your cat will likely be rusted solid, a little rust remover (something like PB Penetrating Catalyst, NOT WD-40) will work wonders on these and should help you get them off.

Thanks for the advice. I'm hoping it all goes well. If for some reason I end up needing to have a mechanic do it, are muffler shops going to give me a hard time about it being illegal? Or will they not know the difference? Thanks.
