Crankshaft pulley and the seal
I need a crankshaft pulley and the seal and i don't want to go to the dealership where it cost two arms and a leg. I looked at rockauto site snd found the pulley but i don't know what company make a decent seal since i never heard of the companies. Also if i get the seal from the dealer do i have to get the main pulley also or it will fit on any aftermarket crankshaft pulley for 98 maxima?

The oil seal is made to a size specified by nissan. So is the crankshaft pulley. This means that you can get the pulley from one place and the seal from another.
There are several companies that make quality oil seals. Timken (Timkin?) and National are 2. But amazingly, Nissan is cheaper for oil seals and gaskets than your local auto parts store.

Have you checked on prices from the dealer? surprisingly, it may be cheaper than you think. I needed a new crank shaft my for 3.5 motor build and my machine shop couldn't believe I got it for less than $250 from courtesy Nissan.

But did you really look? $10-15 from the dealer.
