underdrive pulley break crankshaft???

underdrive pulley break crankshaft???
i just installed a underdrive pulley on my 2k1automax. when i removed the stock pulley i noticed a rubber dampener in the middle of pulley. does this dampener take out vibration when car is shut off.(meaning does it give crank to drive belt accessary slack?) is their any chance that this solid pulley will hurt my engine? if their is i'll take it right off. anyone have any problems????

These are pics of the stock crank pulley from my '99 Maxima. I thought what you were describing was the oil seal, but after reading further, I don't know what you're talking about!

I think we've been through this several times.
The rubber he's talking about is not the seal. There is an area with rubber. My recollection from talking to UDP when I put mine on (think it is on their site too) is thatrubber is there to reduce tortional force. However, the diameter of the UDP is smaller so there is no need for the rubber. It is not a harmonic dampener.

The only part that is hard is loosening the tension stop bolts. Those bolts are against the wall of the engine compartment and does not leave much room for your hands, need small hands. Once you got that done, you have it made.
The bolt on the actual crankshaft can be removed by the start trick, put a breaker bar on that bolt and put the breakbar again the lower suspension brace, "blimp" the starter from the inside and you will know that you "broke" the bolt.
Simple.
