Upper Oil Pan Tab

Working on the upper oil pan gasket and been trying for hours to get it flush. Any tips to get it past the tabs?

i might be able to get one side but definitely not the other.

Are you talking about the half moon gaskets at each end of the upper oil pan? Other than those gaskets, the main surface is sealed with RTV (I use Permatex Ultra Grey) .
