So is it a 88 or a 98? Either way, neither of these models came with an automatic stater from the factory. You have an aftermarket alarm/automatic starter installed. The factory key fob does not have a star symbol on it. What is this box in the trunk you mentioned? Take a pic and post it so we can see what you are talking about.

Jack,

YELLING LIKE THAT won't get you attention and help.

We need clear descriptions of what is going on.

We have foreign members who use language translation soft ware. I know what their posts look like. Their meaning is clear, but the English is a bit off.

Poor Grammer and run on sentences confuse most of us. It like reading word salad.

Seems like a member is helping you.

He is guessing that you have some sort of after market alarm or remote starting system.

Our cars do not have remote starting.
They come with a factory installed alarm system.

Please post a photo of your remote. We will know immediately if you have the remote the car came with. We might be able to help you if you have that.

But if you have an after market setup, we probably won't be able to help you.

You would need to contact the company which made the after market system, or find someone who specializes in automobile electrical systems.

In the futures please don't be rude.
We don't HAVE to help any one.

I am willing to bet he has an aftermarket alarm. I’ve had automatic starters in the past. The star symbol button has always been to start the vehicle.

Nissan Maxima alarm

Hi I am sorry to use capitals and u guys are correct the remote starter is aftermarket "ultra start" and the box in the trunk is right by the radio antenna it's a silver color I was informed that is the brain for this factory unit , by the left side where the side mirrors adjustment is right next to it it's a factory diode that always was on and few days it's off no matter what i do and there is two diodes behind the rear view mirror that sometimes blink or stay on I got a new battery for the remote control it has only lock/unlock a star and a # sine if the pic's are needed I will send it Thank You guys and I'm sorry for the" tossalad " on my other posts

So what exactly is not working? Does the car start when you put the key in the ignition switch? Or is it that the car will not start when you use the remote?

The silver box in the trunk is the radio receiver for the Nissan remote, but not the "brains". The "brains" are part of the BCM (Body Control Module) in the dash.

A photo of the remote will help a lot. And a photo of the "there is two diodes behind the rear view mirror that sometimes blink or stay on".

Like others, I think the aftermarket remote starter has died.
