I recently replaced my oem hitachi alternator with another hitachi alternator from rockauto. Alternator was replaced due to prolonged dimming of headlights/int lights while turn signal or brake pedal was applied. Install went well, still have a brief half second pause in headlights vs 2 to 3 seconds or constant dim when brakes are applied. Battery tested at 12.8v car off, 14.3v ish running. I did the scotty kilmer ground test and alt showed same as battery on body of alt. Also i have the craziest ground noises. I had just the aftermarket radio speaker ground noise before new alt. but now i have ground noise coming through the window switches, all 4.. only when in use, I can hear the noise coming through ac fan switch and blower when in use. no codes, belt is new and taught ,no noise coming from alt itself. I tried adding an extra ground cable to ground post in front of alt. no change. I ordered a new alt harness and will reinstall alt when that arrives and make sure the alt mount points are clean.
