Hi all.
I'm almost finished reassembling my tranny I just rebuilt. and I noticed this pin leftover. I don't remember removing it, and I cant find where it's supposed to go.
Does anybody know where it goes?!
remove the snap ring off the bearing from your other post. the bearing is the same, just have a snap ring.
the part in your picture from this post looks like an interlock plunger. part of the shifter mechanism. should be a steel ball on one side or both side depending on which plunger it is. It pushes against a ball that pushes up against one of the shift rods

That is a good guess, but I already have the plunger for the shift rods. That plunger and the associated steel ***** are 2-3 times the diameter of this pin. This is for something/somewhere else.
The tranny has a total of 6 beairngs, two ball type bearings and 4 taper roller bearings in the tranny. One of the rollers for the tapered bearing fell out during bearing pull? check all your old bearings to see if its complete?

Sad to say it's not from any of the bearings either, just checked.
If the bearings are complete and you put all the interlock plungers back, that's pretty much all I can think off. The interlock plunger got me one time. I forgot which one but there's a big one and a smaller one, all I know was I saw it in a puddle of oil towards the end, luckily didn't close up the tranny yet and was able to put it back in.
Thanks for the help but its not any of the plungers, they are all accounted for. And this pin is about 2-3 times smaller then said plungers and steel *****.
Sorry to say It's not the reverse retaining pin either that is already installed.
No problem. Ask me how I know about that one. I forgot to put it in and my car ended up getting stuck in 2nd gear with the shifter in 3rd. Long story short had to rip it apart all over again and get that piece in.
