R34 headlight retrofit

Im sure its been answered before, just completed a full retrofit build on some R34 style headlights. Low beams work great but when i turn on the high beams, the low beams cut off and only the highbeams turn on, looks kind of weird when its just the highbeams on. Any way to solve this? Or is my headlight switch going bad.
Thanx

Iy is working as designed. It is illegal to have both low and high beams on at the same time.

Im not trying to run them both at the same time all the time. Just when I am on dark roads, when i flick on the highbeams, I want the lowbeams to stay on with the highbeams.

Not true. Many cars have the low beams stay on when the high beams come on.

Low beam

High beam

I want it like this. When high beams turn on the lows stay on in this photo. My case, the lows go off as i push the highs on.

There is a mod using a Diode to keep both lit when switching to High Beams.

Where did you get your projectors and components? They must have something they can supply/sell or recommend. They know 9004 bulbs have 2 separate filaments and the switch and wiring is either and not both. US Maximas came with 9004s and not the 2 lamp setup installed now in your car and is wired for such.

OOO i see. Do you have any pictures of how its done?
I had a builder do my headlights. Build was done by a shop called 818 retrofits and I am using his lighting that he has made by the same company Diode dynamics. I believe thats what they are called.

I asked him about a diode and he said he uses 15amp diodes. The Projectors they use are 3.2 amps and the led bulb I have on my high beam is probably 2 amps. He stated its well below the 80 percent duty cycle of the diode 12 amps

I think that video legit had a thread linked to it where I explained the whole diode thing lol Super old vid! I had the fog lights rewired also so they wouldn’t shut off with the high beams either.

Glad to see you got it worked out.

Yes the fogs actually stay on too with highbeams activated so it looks even cooler lol.

What low beam projectors are you using? I am surprised I do not see a defined cutoff on the tree in your pic. But it could just be the night shot not picking it up well.

lol late response; All windows are 5% and the front windshield is 15%, and I only have it to give the car the look I want and to keep my interior very cool in the hot heat. But before anyone does that on there windshield, I am a window tinter and the most I recommend for anyone is between 70% - 20% as 15% is Dark Dark You can check out my YouTube as I have videos of how it is 😀

The projector is the actual LED built in. It’s a BiLED projector which are custom built by my builder 818Retrofits.

It is illegal to have both low and high beams on at the same time.

Well technically having high-beams on while driving can blind oncoming traffic. Especially on those roads with only 2 lanes ⬆️⬇️. As far as being illegal, U can have them on as long as u turn them off when traffic approaches your car I believe.

1N4007. You’ll need two (one for each side)
